Weekend Film Challenge

  • Kick-off Jan 18, 10am
  • Upload Deadline Jan 20, 5pm
  • Open to ATX area high schools
  • 5 min or less
  • Screening event: Feb 13 at AISD PAC, 1:30pm


Crews will meet at Travis HS on Saturday January 18 at 10am for the kick-off event. All crews must be present with at least 1 or 2 representatives. Crew size limit should be 10 or less and each school can have up to 3 crews participate.

Each crew will be given the contest rules and parameters: a genre, character, line of dialogue and a prop that must be incorporated into the finished film.


Crews will then leave to embark on writing, shooting, and editing. Crews will make films on their own without teacher supervision at locations provided by student crews. 

No equipment is provided by the contest. Teachers will provide equipment for students.



  • Best Film Overall - 1st place

  • 2nd place

  • 3rd place

  • Best use of prop (essential to the plot)

  • Best use of line of dialogue (sounds natural in the dialogue of the story)

  • Audience Favorite

Prizes will be donated to the schools of the winning crews.
